Wildcats Top Express in Conference Play

AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly Women's Lacrosse Team (6-6, 4-3 NEAC) picked up a conference victory on the road at Wells (2-8, 2-5 NEAC) Sunday afternoon by a score of 14-2.

Meghan Serota (Black River, N.Y. / Carthage) and Mari Ames (West Carthage, N.Y. / Carthage) led the way with five points apiece. Serota scored four goals and added an assist while Ames recorded two goals and three assists.

The Wildcats recorded a first half shutout, holding a 9-0 advantage going into halftime. Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro) got things started at 27:56 when she finished a feed from Ames. Ames struck again 25 seconds later, this time to fellow freshman Hope Cerasuolo (Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown). Four other players would add goals in the half to build on the visitor's lead.

Wells got on the board to open the scoring in the second half but SUNY Poly responded with three goals to take a 12-1 lead. Serota and Cerasuolo both added another goal in the final five minutes to close out the scoring for both teams.

Nicole DiPiazza (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie) added two goals while Filipa Exposto (Lisbon, Portugal / Amer. Int'l School of Mozambique), Corrina Marconi (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates-Chili), and Tierney McGlynn (Watervliet, N.Y. / Watervliet) each added a goal.

Ames had a team-high six ground balls to round out her day, while Beha led the Wildcats with six draw controls.

Cassidy Thompson (Weedsport, N.Y. / Weedsport) recorded eight saves to earn the win.

The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday against Cazenovia at home.
