Wildcats Shut Out Eagles in Conference Win

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The SUNY Poly Women's Lacrosse Team (5-4, 3-2 NEAC) used a total team effort to cruise to a 21-0 win over host St. Elizabeth (0-9, 0-7 NEAC). The win makes it the second for the Wildcats in as many days.

Nine players contributed goals for the SUNY Poly; Nicole DiPiazza (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie) led the way with 6 goals also contributing an assist. Mari Ames (West Carthage, N.Y. / Carthage) led all scorers with 8 points on 4 goals and 4 assists.

The Wildcats paced the game with 15 first half goals starting at 28:51 when Meghan Serota (Black River, N.Y. / Carthage) got things started. DiPiazza wasted no time as she scored her first of the day 42 seconds later. The duo struck again 23 seconds later to keep the Wildcats rolling.

The second half saw six different players score six goals with Ames picking up three of her assists in that span.

Serota finished the day with 4 goals and an assist and Tierney McGlynn (Watervliet, N.Y. / Watervliet) added 2 more for the Wildcats.

Ames and DiPiazza led the team with 7 ground balls apiece while McGylnn recorded a team-high 8 draw controls. Hope Cerasuolo (Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown) had another big day with 5 ground balls and a team-leading 5 caused turnovers.

Cassidy Thompson (Weedsport, N.Y. / Weedsport) recorded 2 saves to secure the win in goal.

The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday night against Bard.
