Pioneers Hand Wildcats First Loss of the Season

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse Team (5-1, 4-0 NEAC) dropped their first game of the season Wednesday night, 19-2 to the Utica Pioneers (7-3, 2-2 Empire 8).

Megan Kane led all scorers with 5 goals for the Pioneers, and was trailed by 5 other Utica players each with 2 goals apiece. Directing traffic for the visitors was Morgan DuPont, who finished with a game-high 4 assists.

SUNYIT managed its first goal of the game in the second half, as Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro) netted an unassisted score with 22:29 remaining. Jenna Lashua (Heuvelton, N.Y. / Heuvelton) came up with SUNYIT's other score with a nice drive to the cage towards the end of the game.

Goalkeeper Cassidy Thompson (Weedsport, N.Y. / Weedsport) made 17 saves for the Wildcats in defeat.

SUNYIT returns to action with another home game this Saturday. The Wildcats host NEAC foe Medaille in a 3 pm matchup.
