Women’s Lacrosse Improves to 4-0 With 16-4 Win Over St. Elizabeth; Beha Goes for Program-Best 10 Goals

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse Team (4-0, 3-0 NEAC) won their fourth-straight game to start the season on Saturday with a 16-4 victory over the College of St. Elizabeth (0-4, 0-1 NEAC). SUNYIT rookie phenom Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro) continues to impress, as the attacker scored 10 goals, the most of any player for a single game in the 3-year history of the SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse program.

The Screamin' Eagles actually got on the board first, as Kelly O'Dell netted a free position shot less than two minutes in. O'Dell would finish with the team-lead in goals, scoring two of the four Eagle goals on the day.

SUNYIT answered with scores by Beha and Laura Tolbert (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse), but a Nicole Rios goal at the 16:54 mark had things knotted at 2-2. Tolbert, last year's NEAC Rookie of the Year, had her typical strong performance with 2 goals, an assist, and 2 caused turnovers.

At that point the Wildcats rattled off 6-in-a-row to take a commanding 8-2 lead. Beha scored the first two goals of the run, then assisted on the next two to Jenna Lashua (Heuvelton, N.Y. / Heuvelton). Lashua did a nice job of staking out the right territory in front of the Eagle goal, and Beha found her for back-to-back scores from nearly point-blank range.

Several Wildcats performed well in the victory, as team co-captain Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, N.Y. / LaFayette) tied for the team-high in draw controls with 4, also adding 4 groundballs and an assist. Midfielder Nicole DiPiazza (Colonie, N.Y. / Colonie) tied defender Brittani Howell (Whitney Point, N.Y. / Whitney Point) for the team-lead in caused turnovers with 3, and added 2 goals and 2 draw controls to go along with it.

Beha's 10 goals for the Wildcats eclipsed the previous single-game record of 8 goals which was set by Tolbert last season and tied by Beha in the Wildcat's first game of the 2014 season, a 19-4 home win over Hilbert.  Beha now has 28 scores for the season, which is 1st in the NEAC, and her 10 assists are good for third in the conference at present.

The Wildcats will have another home game tomorrow (Sunday) at 1 pm, as they take on the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Abington.
