Weekend Preview: Women’s Lacrosse

The SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse team (1-0, 0-0 NEAC) heads on the road for a weekend double header to open NEAC play. The Wildcats are fresh off a resounding 19-4 victory against Hilbert that featured a team effort on the defensive end of the field as well as an 8 goal effort by freshmen Krysta Beha (Marcy, N.Y. / Whitesboro). For her efforts, Beha was named the NEAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, as well as the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Friday's game features a match up with Lancaster Bible College at 4:00 pm. The Chargers come into the game 0-6 after a slow start to their season. Last year's game saw a 2-overtime thriller where the Wildcats came out on top by a score of 11-10. Returning sophomore and last year's leading scorer Laura Tolbert (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 5 goals in that game, and then-sophomore Ana Exposto (Lisbon, Portugal / Amer. Int'l School of Mozambique) added a score of her own.

Saturday's game is another NEAC battle, as the Wildcats will take on Wilson College. UPDATE: The game at Wilson has been moved up to 9:00 am due to weather. Last year the Wildcats earned a resounding 16-1 victory against Wilson in a game that marked the season's highest goal total as well as the best defensive effort of the season. The Phoenix have played just one game so far this season, a 16-7 loss to Waynesburg, but will host Medaille College the day before taking on SUNYIT.
