WBB: Wildcats Beat Hilbert Handily 68-31 to Finish Morrisville Tip-off Tournament 2-0.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team improved to 2-1 this season with a convincing 68-31 win over Hilbert on the second day of the Morrisville State Tip-off Tournament. The Wildcats took the lead on the first basket of the game and never looked back. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Wildcats dominated in the paint, scoring 40 of their points in the lane. The Wildcats were led by a solid shooting performance by Kierra Connor. She went 8-11 from the field and had a game-high 22 points. The Wildcats won the rebounding battle 44-32, scored 17 points off of turnovers, 10 points off second-chance opportunities, and held the Hawks to single-digit scoring totals in all but one quarter.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Kierra Connor was just one rebound shy of a double-double. She scored a game-high 22 points and had nine rebounds. 

  • Molly Burdick had a 13 point, 11 rebound double-double. She also had four steals, four assists, and a block. 

  • Madison Ortiz scored 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench for the Wildcats. She also had three rebounds and an assist. 

  • Hilbert's Macy Kisner had a game high 17 rebounds and 10 points to record a double-double. She also had four steals. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will play their first game of the season at home on Tuesday, November 23rd against Medaille College. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 PM tip-off at the Campus Center Gym. Live coverage will be available on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN).
