WBB: Aggressive Defense Leads Wildcats to 62-59 Victory Over Potsdam.

CANTON, N.Y. - The Wildcat women's basketball team had a tough match up on Saturday in the second game of the SUNY Canton Tip-off Tournament. The Potsdam Bears and the Wildcats went basket for basket early in the game. The Bear's found momentum late in the game, but the Wildcat's took over on the defensive end in the final stretch to secure at 62-59 win.

Kiersten Leos (Camden, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with a game high of 17 points. The junior guard shot well from the field and came up with 5 steals for the Wildcats including the final steal of the game to help seal the win for the Wildcats.

Khristaijah Jackson (Levittown, Pa.) followed up her stellar performance yesterday with 13 points for her team.

Junior transfer Rylie Smith (St. Johnsville, N.Y.) found her offensive stride scoring 12 points on four of nine from the field.

Taylor Aybar (Woodside, N.Y.)  was a strong asset to the Wildcat defense having 6 steals and tallying a team high six assists.

SUNY Potsdam's Riley Luckie scored a game high of 28 points, going 10-15 for field goals and 7-11 from beyond the arch. Drew Dufrane, Abbey Smith, and Nicole Hansen all scored 6 points for the Bears.

The Wildcats will host the Hamilton Continentals in their home opener. The game is scheduled to tip off at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at SUNY Poly's Campus Center Gym in Marcy, N.Y.
