WBB: Wildcats Trounce Roos 84-42 to Improve to 7-0.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's basketball team hosted SUNY Canton on Saturday in a non-conference matchup that ended in a landslide victory for the Wildcats; 84-42. The game was a blowout right from the start. The Wildcats went up 16 in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Wildcats shot 44 percent in the game. 33 of their points were scored off of Canton turnovers, of which Canton had 33. The bench for the Wildcats scored 23 points in 90 total minutes.  SUNY Poly's largest lead was an astounding 50 points.

Senior Stevie Ray (Syracuse, N.Y.) had a game high 26 points in the game. She shot 50 percent from the field and had four three-pointers. Ray's scoring was accompanied by five steals, four assists and five rebounds.

Khristaijah Jackson (Levittown, Pa.) scored 19 points and shot an outstanding 70 percent from the field. She had six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in her 23 minutes of work.  

The freshman duo of Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent, N.Y.) and Taylor Aybar (Woodside, N.Y.) combined for 25 points. Harrison scored 13 points in 16 minutes. She had six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Aybar had a solid game at the point. Her eight steals were a game high. She scored 12 points in 28 minutes and had an assist and two rebounds.

Tatiana Laroche had a solid game for Canton. She had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Allison Fink also had 10 points for the Roos. She also had 2 rebounds and a block.

The Wildcats improve to 7-0 with the win. The team will be back in action next Saturday when they will host Cortland State at SUNY Poly's Campus Center Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
