COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's basketball team traveled to Cobleskill on Wednesday for their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game of the season. The Wildcats took on the Fighting Tigers of Cobleskill State, earning their first conference win of the year 82-68.

The Wildcats had to mount a comeback after going into the half trailing the Fighting Tigers by 10 points. The Wildcats would settle into a grove in the second half both offensively and defensively. The Wildcats cut the Tigers lead to three points at the end of three and held the Tigers to just eight points in the fourth while scoring 25.

Stevie Ray (Syracuse, N.Y.) had a monster of a game for the Wildcats. The senior poured in the buckets leading all scorers with an impressive 43 points on 12 of 23 from the field. Ray was also on her game from the free throw line going a perfect 16 for 16. Ray also led all players with six steals in the game and had a team high three assists. Stevie is now averaging more than 30 points per game and is shooting 48% from the field.

Khristaijah Jackson (Levittown, Pa.) had a solid all-around game for the Wildcats. She had 10 points, six rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Jackson shot 44 percent from the field. bench players had solid performances

Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent, N.Y.) and Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) had solid performances off the bench. Harrison had nine points for the Wildcats in 24 minutes. She went 3 of 9 from the field and had six rebounds and a steal. Smith played 29 minutes in the Wildcats win. She scored eight points, four rebounds, and a steal. Smith shot 75% from the field.

For Cobleskill Shaliyah Graham led her team with 20 points. She also had three steals, two assists, and two rebounds. Ashley Creighton had 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Shelby Preston had a game high seven rebounds. Preston also had 12 points, an assist, and a steal in the game.

With the win the Wildcats are now 3-0 on the year and are 1-0 in the NEAC. The team will be back in action on Saturday when they will host Wells College. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 tip off.
