SB: Wildcat Win Streak Improves to Six Games After Two Wins Over Wells.

MARCY, N.Y.- The SUNY Poly softball team earned two big North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) wins Friday afternoon in a sweep of Wells College. The Wildcats were locked in offensively scoring a combined 17 runs on 19 hits for both games.

Game 1:

In game one the Wildcats took down the Express 11-10. Wells jumped out to an early lead off a solo homerun from Naomi Kubo. The Wildcats would take the lead in the bottom of the first with a two RBI single from Bailee Haddad (Frankfort, N.Y.). The Wildcats would tack on two more runs heading into the third inning. The Express struck back in the top of the fourth with a two RBI single that would trim the deficit. Wells would take the lead with a single from Autumn Nolan that drove in two runs. The 'Cats would regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth from an RBI single to left field by Courtney Morton, (Whitesboro, N.Y.). The Wildcats would come out victorious despite a four-run comeback by Wells in the top of the 7th. Kylie Chesebro (Oneida, N.Y.) earned the win for the Wildcats. The freshman went 4.2 inning giving up seven hits and throwing four strikeouts.

Courtney Morton and Melissa Barber (Nassau, N.Y.) continued to break open the top of the batting order for the Wildcats.  Morton went 2-3 with two RBIs and a triple, she currently leads the team with a .382 batting average. Barber went 1-2 with two RBI. The freshman is leading the Wildcats with an on-base percentage of .434.

Bailee Haddad also had two RBIs in game one, which puts her in second on the team in that category.

For Wells, Autumn Nolan went 3-3 in game one with two RBIs. Dallia Rorick also batted in two RBIs after going 2-4. Naomi Kubo was on the mound for the Express and earned the loss. She had one strikeout on the day and gave up nine runs.

Game 2:

The Wildcats continued their hot hitting in game two. The Wildcats landed on the board in the bottom of the first with a single from Bailee Haddad that drove in Courtney Morton and Melissa Barber. Celine Laracuente (Utica, N.Y.) was on fire pitching for the Wildcats. The senior threw all seven innings earning a three-hit shutout.

Courtney Morton continued her hot hitting in game two. The junior went 3-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Bailiee Haddad went 2-4 adding on to her RBI total by driving in three runs, two in the first inning and one in the bottom of the fourth.

Melissa Barber went 2-3 driving in one run.

For Wells, no players had multiple hits. Jessica Conover was credited with the loss. She gave up six runs on 10 hits and had one strikeout on the day.

With these two wins the Wildcats improve to 10-12 on the season and 8-4 in the NEAC. The Wildcats sit at second in the North Division behind Keuka. They will host third place Penn College for a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one is set to begin at 1:00PM with game two to follow at 3:00PM.
