Lady Wildcats Earn 2 Seed in Upcoming NEAC Championship at Keuka

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Keuka College is set to be the host site of the 2012 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) softball championships, with the six-team, double-elimination tournament taking place this Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6.

The Keuka softball team finished with an 18-2 record in conference play (19-9 overall) to become the North Division regular season champion, which was predetermined as the host site for this year's tournament.  Joining them from the North will be second seed SUNY Institute of Technology (23-10, 17-3 NEAC North) and third seed Cazenovia College (9-25, 8-12 NEAC North).

The South Division regular season championship was won by the Wilson College Phoenix, who finished the year a perfect 20-0 in conference play and are currently sitting at 25-2 overall while being in the midst of a 22-game winning streak. They will be joined from the South by second seed Penn State Harrisburg (12-24, 12-8 NEAC South) and third seed Penn State Berks (18-20, 12-8 NEAC South).  Although the two teams had identical division records and split their head-to-head matchups, Harrisburg claimed the second seed based on the subsequent conference tiebreaker.

The tournament will kick off on Friday with the No. 2 and 3 seeds from each division in action, with SUNYIT taking on Penn State Berks at 2 p.m. and Penn State Harrisburg squaring off against Cazenovia at 4 p.m.  Saturday will see games at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with Sunday's schedule set for 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and, if necessary, 4 p.m.

The complete playoff bracket can be viewed here.  Live stats for all games will be made available by Keuka College and can be viewed here.

The winner of the tournament will be crowned the NEAC Champion and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
