MARCY, N.Y. – SUNY Poly cross country hosted their annual SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational on Saturday. 11 men's teams participated in the race, with 110 total runners finishing. A dry course and mild temperatures led to perfect running conditions for the 12th instalment of the Short Course Invitational, leading to a new course record being set by one runner.
RACE HIGHLIGHTS:
- Logan Roots from the Royal Military College of Canada was the individual who broke the course record set back in 2015. Roots ran an impressive 18:44.0 6K, with a mile pace of 5:02. He beat the previous record by six seconds.
- SUNY Oneonta was the best finishing team with a total of 30 points. Their runners placed fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth.
- SUNY Poly finished in sixth place as a team with 165 points. The team paced themselves in their first race of the season, finishing as a pack in 31st-37th place.

SUNY Poly will travel to Cobleskill to take part in the Steven A. Warde Invitational at SUNY Cobleskill. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 8th. The women's race will start at 11:00 AM with the men follow at 12:00 PM.
