MCC: Wildcats Win Fifth Consecutive NEAC Championship. Valvo and Tylutki receive individual awards.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's cross country team won their fifth consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) team title scoring forty points with their top five finishers placing third, fifth, seventh, ninth, and sixteenth. Second place team Penn College finished with 66 points.

 

Noah Valvo (Wright, N.Y.) was the Wildcats top finisher placing third overall with the time of 28:58.5 in the 8k race. The Wildcats second, third, and fourth place finishers were Ian Kurzrock (Woodbourne, N.Y), Jonathon Miller (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Derek Smith (Rochester, N.Y.). Kurzrock finished in fifth place with a time of 29:19.4. Jonathon Miller and Derek Smith finished seventh and ninth overall with times of 29:31.7 and 29:56.3 respectively. Rounding out the placing for the Wildcats was Christopher Bouchard (Latham, N.Y.) in 16th place with a time of 30:44.3.

 

Wildcat cross country Head Couch Bill Tylutki was voted NEAC men's cross country Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. Noah Valvo was named NEAC Rooky of the Year for his third place finish which was the best among all first year runners. Tanner Krob from Lancaster Bible was the NEAC runner of the year after winning the NEAC Championship race with a time of 28:14 which was 26 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

 

The Wildcats had five runners named to NEAC All – Conference teams. Noah Valvo, Ian Kurzrock and Jonathon Miller received first team honors. Derek Smith received second team honors. Christopher Bouchard received third team honors.

The Wildcats will run in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional race which is scheduled for Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 AM. The race will be hosted by Houghton College at the Field of Dreams Cross Country Course in Houghton N.Y.
