MVB: Wildcats Earn First Win of the Season 3-0 Over Sage.

ALBANY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team earned their first win of the season on Wednesday. The Wildcats (1-4) took down the Gators of Sage College (0-3) in three sets 25-23, 25-21, 25-17. The win was a career first for Wildcat Head Coach Katie Kenny.

The Wildcats took control of the match early and kept their foot on the gas for the duration of the three setter. The team hit a sound .228 in the match on 79 swings. 

Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.) and Ryan Gloff (Brockport, N.Y.) led the Wildcat attack with nine and eight kills respectively. Szuba hit .185 on 27 swings with a team high eight digs and two service aces. Gloff hit .294 with four digs, and a solo block.  

Garrett Hassard (Oneonta, N.Y.) hit a match high .857 for the Wildcats. The sophomore middle had six kills on seven swings and had one of the Wildcats two solo blocks.

Sage's Bailey Cecchi had a match high 14 kills on 30 attacks. Casey Fitzpatrick had a match high 10 digs. The Gators out-blocked the Wildcats three-to-one with 10 block assists and a block solo.

SUNY Poly will host a pair of matches this weekend against Regis. The first match will start at 12:00 PM on Saturday at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House. The second will be played at 2:00 PM.
