MVB: Wildcats Fall to Kean and Emmanuel.

UNION, N.J. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball lost both matches on day two of their weekend trip to Massachusetts and New Jersey. On Sunday, the Wildcats took on Kean and Emmanuel at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. The Wildcats lost a heartbreaker 2-3 in the first match and lost in three sets to Emmanuel.

In the first match, the Wildcats had a 2-0 lead headed into the third set. The Wildcats lost the third set 23-25 and the fourth set 26-28 to force a deciding set. The Cougars of Kean would take set three 11-15 thanks in large part to a .545 hitting percentage in the set.

Connor Schultz (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.) had big matches on the attack. Szuba had a match high 14 kills on 37 swings. Schultz also took 37 swings and had 13 kills. Schultz had four service aces, five block assists, a match high two solo blocks, and three digs. Szuba had 9 digs, three service aces, and a block assist.

Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had 42 assists in the match, putting him in sole possession of second place on the SUNY Poly all-time assists list. Goggin also had a service ace, five digs, and a kill in the match.

The final score of the match was 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 26-28, 11-15.

The Wildcats second match of the day and fourth of the weekend was against Emmanuel. The match was another loss for SUNY Poly 0-3. 11 Wildcats saw action in the match.

Max Szuba had a team high seven kills in two sets played. James Homan (Fairport, N.Y.) had five kills in the match and had three block assists. Derek Connelly (Oneida, N.Y.) had five kills, and five digs.

 The Wildcats are now 7-7 on the year and sit atop the North Eastern Athletic Conference with a 4-0 conference record. The team will be back in action on Wednesday when they host NEAC for Wells College. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
