MVB: Wildcats Improve to 4-0 in Conference Play With a 3-1 Win over Keuka.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats remained undefeated in conference play with a 3-1 win over Keuka on Thursday 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16. The Wildcats got off to a hot start hitting .394 in the first set. The Wildcats would end up hitting .226 in the match.

Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.) had a match high 16 kills on 34 attempts. Szuba also racked up seven kills, a service ace, and a block assist.

Nick Hagen (Hilton, N.Y.) had a great match in the middle for the Wildcats. The senior had two solo blocks and two block assists. Hagen also had 10 kills on 16 swings for a team high hitting percentage of .562. Nick also recorded a service ace and a dig.

Sophomore Brian Malsan (Slingerlands, N.Y.) had a match high 15 digs. Malsan made two fantastic plays in the match. The first was a diving save out of bounds to set up a kill by Max Szuba. The second play was an impressive diving save. Malsan had to cover the length of the court and lay out full extension into the back screen to keep the play alive. Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) would finish the play with a crafty back corner attack.

Goggin finished the match with 47 assists, three kills, three service aces, and seven digs.

The Wildcats are now 4-0 in league play and are at the top of the NEAC standings. The team will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Springfield Massachusetts for two matches against Springfield and Arcadia. The first match is scheduled for 2:00 PM and the second is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
