MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's soccer team improved to 3-3 in NEAC Play on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Gallaudet. The Wildcats scored their first goal early to take a 1-0 lead in the first half. Gallaudet tied it up in the 49th minute, forcing the Wildcats to go on the attack. The Wildcats would rise to the occasion, scoring the game winning goal in the 64th minute.

TURNING POINT:

With the game tied halfway through the second half, Jamar Gayle (Kingston, Jamaica) crossed a ball in from the right side of the box. The pass found its way across the front of the goal to a waiting Richie Morris (Spanish Town, Jamaica) who had fought a defender for an inside line. Morris made the most of the perfect pass, drilling a shot into the goal to give the Wildcats a late lead.

NOTABLES:

• Jamar Gayle led all players with three points in the game. The junior scored a beautiful goal in the first half, lobbing a chip shot into a narrow window to give his team an early lead. Gayle would play a part in the Wildcats second goal, this time facilitating the scoring with a well-placed cross. Gayle now has 12 points this season which is the second highest total on the team.
• Richie Morris scored the game winning goal for the Wildcats. The junior now has five points in his Wildcat career.
• Nathan Laughlin (Cohoes, N.Y.) earned his fourth win of the season in goal. The sophomore made three saves on four shots faced.
• Samer Abualya scored the lone goal for the Wildcats. The goal was scored in the 49h minute and was the game tying goal.
• Shane Angel made three saves but was tagged with the loss. He is now 4-7 this season.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to local rival Hamilton College to take on the Continentals in a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 PM start on Tuesday, October 9th.
