MSOC: Wildcats Earn Two NEAC Wins to Improve to 3-2 in Conference Play.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's soccer team (5-7-1, 3-2 NEAC) had a great weekend of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play as they took two conference wins over the Eagles of St. Elizabeth (0-10-1, 0-4 NEAC) and the Bison of Gallaudet University (1-10, 1-4 NEAC).  

 

During Saturday's match against the Eagles, the ball was passed around well among the Wildcat offense. Five Wildcats were able to find the back of the net in the 5-1 victory over St. Elizabeth. The first goal was scored by off a header from Benjamin Alonge (Elmont, N.Y.) in the Seventh minute of play. The Alonge goal was assisted by Amadou Ndiaye (Harlem, N.Y.). Kyle Baker (Rome, N.Y.) scored the second goal for the Wildcats off a corner kick at the 15th minute mark. Shortly after that, Wyatt Snell (Parishville, N.Y.) found his way past the goal keeper after a cross Grant Calogero (Utica, N.Y.).Gerry Thermil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was next to score. His goal was scored off a cross from Zack Joseph (). The goal was Thermil's first as a Wildcat. Rounding out the goal scoring for the Wildcats was Austin Plows (Edmeston, N.Y.) in the 62nd minute of play. The goal was also the first of his career.

 

Raul Galindo Rojas of the St. Elizabeth had the lone goal for the Eagles on an assist by Kevin Canseco.

 

The Wildcats took on the Bison of Gallaudet on Sunday, defeating the conference opponent 2-0. The Wildcats played a physical game against the Bison and came out on top at the end of the match.

 

Andrew Kessler (Bethlehem, N.Y.) scored the first goal for the Wildcats during the 10th minute of play. The shot was a beautifully struck shot from outside the box. It was his first goal of his career. Amadou Ndiaye came up with the next goal for the Wildcats with a successful header off a corner kick from Gerry Thermil.

 

Kevin Fitzpatrick led the Bison offensively with 2 attempts at goal.

 

Nathan Laughlin (Cohoes, N.Y.) came up with 2 saves for the Wildcats during the 90 minutes of play. The win was his second of the season.

The Wildcats will hit the road at Cazenovia College for a NEAC match-up. The game is scheduled for Saturday October 14th in Cazenovia, N.Y. with a 12:00 pm kickoff.
