MLAX: Wildcats Earn First NEAC Win of the Season Over Cobleskill 15-10.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's lacrosse team earned their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game of the 2017 season on Saturday, 15-10 over Cobleskill. The Wildcat's 15 goals was the team's highest offensive output of the season with two players putting six goals on the board.

Connor Elsenbeck (Clinton, N.Y.) and Daniel Rivie (Ossining, N.Y.) accounted for 12 of the Wildcats 15 goals.

Connor Elsenbeck, the current points leader for the Wildcats with 28, had a game high seven points on six goals and an assist. He was extremely efficient in the game, taking just seven shots and landing all of them on goal. Elsenbeck also had a team high four groundballs and went 1-1 in the faceoff circle.

Daniel Rivie had six goals in the game on nine shots. The sophomore had three groundballs and a caused turnover. The multiple goal performance was his seventh of the season. He leads the Wildcats with 24 goals this season.  

 Joey Beyer (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Ryan Saunders (Greeneich, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring effort for the Wildcats. Beyer had a goal and an assist. Saunders had a goal, to groundballs, and a caused turnover.

Edward Rosaschi (Highland Mills, N.Y.) had a game high three assists bringing his season total to seven. Rosaschi also had three groundballs in the game.

Jacob Reynolds (Horseheads, N.Y.) had a game high two caused turnovers for the Wildcats. The defense, as a unit, had 11 caused turnovers in the game.

Christopher Evanchuk (Schnectady, N.Y.) earned his second win of the season in goal for the Wildcats. The junior had a career high 15 saves in the game.

For Cobleskill, Jeremy Mowrey and Robert Gioielli each had a team high three goals. Garrett Vigrass had a goal and an assist. John Montaniz made five saves on 20 shots. Kyle Magdziuk dominated on the faceoff front, going 19-24 and scooping up a game high 14 groundballs.

The Wildcats are now 2-8 on the season and are 1-2 in NEAC play. The team's next game is a conference game at home against the 1-6 Medaille Mavericks (0-2 NEAC). The game is scheduled for a 6:00 PM start at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field.
