Men’s Lacrosse to Take On Oswego State

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Lacrosse Team (0-1, 0-0 NEAC) will take on the Oswego State Lakers (0-0) this Saturday in a 1 pm match up on Wildcat Field.

The Wildcats are coming off a season-opening loss to Alfred University, while the Lakers have yet to play a game in 2014 but are scheduled to take on Ithaca College in a 3 pm contest this afternoon (Tuesday).

SUNYIT has taken on the Lakers in each of the program's first two seasons, falling each time to the strong SUNYAC opponent.

SUNYIT will hope for Jon Eguren (Vittoria, Spain / Cicero-North Syracuse) to stay hot, after the senior netted three goals in SUNYIT's loss to Alfred this past Saturday. Eguren has also traditionally been good against Oswego, scoring twice in the two team's first matchup in 2012, and once in the 2013 pairing.

On defense, the Wildcats will have to try to contain speedy attacker Cody Hoose. The junior netted game-highs of 3 goals and 3 assists last year, and led the Lakers last season with 20 goals and 29 assists.

SUNYIT will be hoping to get Brett Gifford (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) and Tyler Serva (Chenango Forks, N.Y. / Chenango) going as well. Serva was held scoreless in the team's first match, while Gifford tallied one score and one assist. Both were top-scorers for the Wildcats in 2013 with over 20 goals each.
