Men’s Lacrosse Defeated 18-4 in Virginia

WINCHESTER, V.A. – The SUNYIT Men's Lacrosse Team (0-5, 0-0 NEAC) fell at the hands of the Shenandoah Hornets over the weekend, 18-4. SUNYIT continues to challenge itself with tough opponents in the non-conference portion of its season, facing off against a 4-1 Shenandoah team that competes in the super-competitive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).

Despite the lopsided defeat, the Wildcats were able to equal their season-high goal output in the loss with four scores on the day. Most notably, Kevin Gardrvits (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Glen Cove) returned from an injury to give SUNYIT a boost. The senior netted two goals and an assist, and currently leads the Wildcats in goals on the season with five.

On the other side of the field, the Wildcats simply couldn't find an answer for Matt Justice, as the Hornet attacker scored 6 goals on the day to lead all players.

SUNYIT will finish up their spring break with a home game this Friday against Oswego State. The game is rescheduled from a snowed-out date earlier in the year, and is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
