MBB: Kevin Williams Named NEAC Player of the Year, Freeman Named to NEAC First Team.

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced the NEAC All-Conference selections and Individual award winners for the 2017-18 men's basketball season. The Wildcats were well represented, garnering one individual award and two NEAC All-Conference first team selections.  

Wildcat senior Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Player of the Year and was a NEAC All-Conference First Team selection. The excerpt below is from the NEAC's press release.

"After an incredible season for SUNY Poly, Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Player of the Year. A three-time NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week, the senior forward has recorded 12 doubles-doubles and leads the league with 512 points through 26 games. In conference play, Williams scored 362 points while averaging a league-leading 22.6 points per game and ranking second with 9.6 rebounds per game. He ranks fifth overall in the NEAC with 221 total rebounds and a 55.4 field-goal percentage. Williams' impact has not been limited to the offense as he enters the NEAC Semifinals with 31 steals and 20 blocks. In just his second year as a Wildcat, Williams has amassed 941 career points and led his team to a spot in the NEAC Final Four."

Redell Freeman (Rochester, N.Y.) was a NEAC First Team All-Conference selection for his efforts this season. Freeman led the NEAC in assists per game and was tied for fourth with 18.1 points per game. His defensive intensity helped him average 2.4 steals per game, third highest in the NEAC. Free was also sixth in the NEAC with 37 three pointers made in NEAC play.
