MBB: Wildcats Improve to 6-0 in NEAC Play With Home Win Over Wells

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team (10-5) improved to 6-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Wednesday with an 89-72 win over north division foe Wells College. The Wildcats never trailed in the game and led the Express by as much as 27 points.

Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had another fantastic game for the Wildcats. The senior recorded his fourth consecutive double-double with a game high 30 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Williams shot 71 percent from the field and had two assists and two blocks.

Redell Freeman (Rochester, N.Y.) did a fantastic job of both facilitating and scoring in the game. The junior had a game high seven assists, 22points, three rebounds, and a steal. Freeman shot 58 percent from the field and drained two three-pointers.

Malik Johnson (Highland Falls, N.Y.) and Frank Reali (Staten Island, N.Y.) rounded out the notable scorers for the Wildcats. Johnson scored 14 points on 7-11 from the field and had three assists, four rebounds, and a block in 38 minutes of play. Reali scored 11 points, knocking down three of five from beyond the arc.

For Wells, Rich Ross and Macho DeJesus had 20 points. Ross had a team high five assists, two steals, and a block. DeJesus had three rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

The Wildcats will be on the road at Keuka for their next game. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20th in Keuka Park. This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. The Wildcats won the last game by a score of 76-70 at home.
