MBB: Wildcats Remain Un-beaten in Conference Play With Win Over Cobleskill.

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wildcat men's basketball earned their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win of the second semester on Wednesday night. The Wildcats took down the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on the road 60-52. The defensive effort was excellent by the Wildcats who held the opposition to under 60 points for the first time this season.

In the first half the Wildcats built a small lead going ahead by six points at the most. The tight game would continue down the stretch with Cobleskill taking a four-point lead with five minutes left in the game. SUNY Poly regained a one-point lead with just 1:30 left on the clock, growing it to eight down the stretch to secure the win.

Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the charge for the Wildcats. The senior had a team high 21 points and a game high 11 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season.

Redell Freeman (Rochester, N.Y.) had 20 points in the game, draining two three pointers on six attempts and recording three assists, three steals, and five defensive rebounds.

Blake Haga (Rome, N.Y.) scored ten points in the game and had an assist and a rebound.

As a team, The Wildcats shot 41 percent from the field. The team played very well defensively, holding the Fighting Tigers to just 52 points, the lowest points against total of the season.

Joel Costello had a team high 21 points in 40 minutes played for Cobleskill. Costello also had six rebounds, five assists, and a game high five steals.

Cobleskill shot nearly 45 percent from the field, but struggled from three-point range, hitting just two threes on 17 attempts.

The Wildcats will hit the road for a weekend trip to Pennsylvania where the team will face Bryn Athyn on Saturday and Penn State Berks on Sunday. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tip-off at Bryn Athyn.
