MBB: Senior Leadership Guides Wildcats to a Big Win Over Lancaster Bible 83-67.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team took down the defending NEAC Champion Lancaster Bible Chargers on Friday by a large margin 83-67. The Wildcats three seniors stepped up to lead their team to the win on their home court.

The Wildcats scored first in the game and held the lead for the entirety of the 40-minute competition. The Wildcats had the edge in nearly every statistical category. The Cats' shot better from the field (52%-38%), shot better from three point land (41%-30%), shot better from the charity stripe(74%-63%), narrowly out rebounded the Chargers (35-34), passed better (16-9 assists), had fewer turnovers (16-17), had more points in the paint (16-9), had more fast break points (6-2), and got more of a contribution from the bench (14-13). Overall it was a clean and efficient win from the NEAC North Division leading Wildcats.

Terrynce Wilson (Bronx, N.Y.) had a game high 20 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in the win. Wilson shot nearly 70 percent from the field in the game and went 2-4 from three point land. Wilson also had the play of the game for the Wildcats, a big dunk on the baseline after out maneuvering a defender on the perimeter.

Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y.) had 19 points in the game, 10 of which were scored on the free throw line. The senior nearly had a double-double grabbing nine rebounds in the game. Mitchell also had three assists and a block.

Joseph Ojo (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the facilitator of the Wildcat offense. Ojo had a team high five assists and 11 points. Ojo shot 50 percent from the field, hit six of eight from the free throw line and played aggressive defense racking up a team high four steals.

Josh Gregory (Whitesboro, N.Y.) made the most of his 15 minutes of play in the game. The freshman nailed three three-pointers and went three for three from the free-throw line for a total of 12 points. Gregory also had four rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block in the game.

For the Chargers, Austin Brown had a team high 18 points, five rebounds, and a steal. Herbie Brown had 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Brett Cataudella had 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

With the win, the Wildcats improve their Conference record to 15-2. The team is currently the top seed in the NEAC North Division and has a place in the Championship Tournament locked up. The team will host one last regular season game on Saturday against Penn State Berks. The Wildcats will honor their three departing seniors before the game with a short recognition ceremony. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start with the ceremony slotted for 10 minutes prior to the tip.
