MBB: Mitchell's 24 Points Lead Wildcats to a 82-64 Win over Cazenovia.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's basketball team beat Cazenovia on Wednesday night 82-64. The final score of the game was not indicative of the pressure packed nature of the competition. The Wildcats trailed for the entire first half, not regaining control of the game until the seventh minute of the second half.

Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y.) put the team on his back, scoring nine unanswered points in just a minute to overtake the eight point Cazenovia lead halfway through the second half. Mitchell would end the game with a team high 24 points in 34 minutes. He shot 47 percent in the game and was 3-9 from three-point land. Mitchell recorded his third double-double of the season with a game high 14 rebounds and had three assists, a steal, and a block.

Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) shot an impressive 73 percent from the field. He went 8-11 with 17 points and had 12 rebounds. The double-double was his third consecutive this season. The Junior has now scored 15+ in five of the Wildcats six games.

The guard duo of Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y.) and Malik Johnson (Highland Falls, N.Y.) each scored 10 points in the game. Johnson had nine rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Griffiths had two rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks.

Joseph Ojo (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the Wildcat's offensive facilitator in the game. His eight assists were a season high for the Wildcats. He also had five points, two steals, and two rebounds in the game.

For Cazenovia Will Thompson and Jaceary Mendes led the way. Thompson had a team high 24 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block. Mendes had 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals.

The Wildcats are now 4-2 this season and are 3-1 in the NEAC. The team will be back in action on the 10th of December when they will travel to RIT for a non-conference matchup. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
