MBB: Last Second 3-Pointer Gives Wells the Narrow Win over SUNY Poly 66-64.

MARCY, N.Y. – On Saturday the SUNY Poly men's basketball team took on the Express of Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. The Wildcats and the Express battled back and forth in the game with the outcome coming down to the final seconds of the game. The Express emerged with the 66-64 win after a clutch three-point bucket gave them the two-point lead that would ultimately be the difference in the game.

The game was the most exciting one of the season thus far for the Wildcats. There were a total of eight lead changes in the game and 11 ties. The largest lead in the game was six points for the Wildcats but the majority of the minutes were played with a score difference of two or three points.

Kevin Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) had a great game for the Wildcats. Despite a bit of foul trouble limiting his minutes on the floor, Williams still managed to lead the Wildcats with 15 points en route to a double-double. Six of Williams's 10 rebounds were on the offensive glass. He also had a block and a steal in the game.

Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y.) and Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y.) had 12 and 10 points in the game respectively. Mitchell had 12 rebounds in the game, giving him his second double-double of the season. Griffiths had five rebounds and an assist in the game.

The clutch game winning shot for Wells was drained by Rich Ross. Ross was the difference maker for Wells. He recorded a double-double with a game high 21 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Vaundell Brantley and Chris Courtney had 11 points each for the Express.

The Wildcats are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NEAC. The team will play host to Keuka on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
