MBB: Wilson Hits a Late Go-Ahead 3-pointer to Give SUNY Poly a Win Over Bryn Athyn 75-73.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team won on Sunday in nail biting fashion 75-73 over Bryn Athyn. The Wildcats and Lions traded blows back and forth for much of the game, neither team being able to hold a lead. The lead changed hands 16 times in the game. The largest lead was eight points by Bryn Athyn early in the second half. The Wildcats battled back in the end and won thanks to a big three pointer with 10 ticks left on the clock.

Terrynce Wilson (Bronx, N.Y. / South Bronx HS) was the hero of the game for the Wildcats, knocking down the go-ahead bucket from behind the arc after what was a tough shooting day for the junior. He had just eight points on 3-10 shooting, but came through in the clutch when his team needed him most. Wilson hit the glass for eight rebounds in the game, his second highest total of his season thus far. He also dished out an assist and had two blocks in the game.

Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y. / HS of Graphics Communication Arts) had a huge day for the Wildcats. He shot 92% from the field for a game high 31 points. His only missed shot of the day was a three pointer. He shot 2-3 from behind the arc in the game. Mitchell grabbed six boards and dished out two assists to go along with his efficient scoring outburst. His play has earned him yet another week as The Wildcat of the Week.

For the Lions, Christian Rivera led the team with 17 points, three rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Nick Cereby and Troy Steed had nine points each.

The win has SUNY Poly in contention in the North Division with a NEAC record of 8-4. They sit just a half game behind Morrisville State in the North standings. The Wildcats will be back in action on Wednesday against Cazenovia. There will be a short pregame ceremony celebrating the teams seniors Michael Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay HS) and Shane Joswick (New York Mills, N.Y. / New York Mills Jr./Sr. HS) the game is scheduled for a 5:00 PM tip off.
