MBB: Wildcats Suffer Loss to Canton 56-40.

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team lost to SUNY Canton in the championship game of the SUNY Potsdam tip-off tournament on Saturday by a score of 56-40. Neither offense was able to get going in this game. Only two Wildcats scored more than 10 points, and only one player from Canton scored in the double digits. Canton was able to take the win by spreading the scoring and playing lock down defense.

SUNY Poly's leading scorer in the game was Tyler Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y. / Westmoreland) who had a game high 13 points, a game high 12 rebounds, and a block.

Terrynce Wilson (Bronx, N.Y. / South Bronx HS) also brought 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals to the table for the Wildcats. He was named to the all-tournament team after recording a stat line of 28 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, three assists, and two blocks in the Wildcats two games in Potsdam.

For Canton, five players contributed at least seven points. Their leading scorer Walt Jeter had 10.

The loss drops SUNY Poly to 1-2 on the season. The team will be back in action on Tuesday when they will host Utica College. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start time. Live stats will be available HERE
