MBB: Wildcats Earn First Win of the Season, 75-63 Over SUNY Potsdam.

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball traveled north for a four team tournament hosted by SUNY Potsdam. In the first day of competition, SUNY Poly earned their first win of the young 2015-16 season 75-63 over Potsdam. The win brings the season record to 1-1 for the Wildcats. Great forward and guard play is what gave Poly the edge in the game.

 Junior forward Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y. / HS of Graphics Communication Arts) led all scorers with 19 points on 7 of 13 from the floor. He also grabbed 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

Forward Terrynce Wilson (Bronx, N.Y. / South Bronx HS) shot .636 from the floor while recording 18 points in 24 minutes played. Wilson also had a game high three steals for the Wildcats and a game high two blocks.

The Wildcats got great guard play from Michael Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay HS) and Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y. / Milford Central School). Boyea scored 15 points, had two assists, and recorded a steal in the game. Griffiths had 10 points, two steals, and an assist off the bench for the Wildcats.

Tyler Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y. / Westmoreland) led all players with five assists from the center position for the Wildcats.

For Potsdam Dante Langley, Josh Blagrove, and Joe Estramonte each had 12 points.

The Wildcats as a team shot a solid 52.9% from field goal range (27-51) and 70.8% from the free throw line (17-24). They out rebounded Potsdam 39-30, had more assists (12-10) and more steals (9-6).
