Today’s Baseball Contest Postponed until Monday

UTICA, NY – Due to rain, today's SUNYIT baseball doubleheader against the visiting Cazenovia College Wildcats has been postponed until Monday at 11:00 am.  The Wildcats have therefore canceled their originally scheduled nine-inning contest against Union College on Monday to make room for their final conference match of the regular season.

The game will still be held at the Larry DeLutis Field in Rome, NY, which is the site of all SUNYIT home games this season due to the on-campus construction of both the $20 million field house and the new Wildcat Baseball Field.  Directions can be found here.

At 10-2 in conference play and 20-12 overall, the Wildcats have put together their best regular season since 2001, when they finished with an overall record of 20-13-1.  Monday's doubleheader will mark the team's final contests of the regular season before they head to the NEAC West Division* playoffs, which begin on Friday, April 29.

*Beginning with the 2010 season, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) members Castleton, Husson, Lyndon State, Maine-Farmington and Thomas will play in the NEAC as associate members in the East Division.  Each division will hold a championship and the two divisional champions will meet for a three-game series to determine the conference champion.  The conference winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
