Kelly Colbert enters her 17th year as the Assistant Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator.  Her role as Assistant AD involves overseeing compliance and academic success at SUNY Poly.

Under her role as compliance coordinator, Colbert is in charge of monitoring all staff with regards to NCAA rules/regulations.  She also maintains all student athlete eligibility certification for participation in the NEAC/NCAA.  Serving as a resource, she provides education on compliance and eligibility for the student athletes, while also providing continuing education about bylaws and rule changes to the athletic staff. 

As an academic success coordinator, Colbert serves as a liaison between the student athletes and faculty.  She maintains a Missed Class Policy, tracks the student athlete’s progression and provides support for any academic concerns.  She also works closely with the Faculty Athletic Representative to provide assistance for all student athletes’ needs.

During her time at SUNY Poly, Colbert has been an active member of the campus community.  She serves on two committees, has partaken in numerous search committees, and participates in campus activities.

Prior to 2015, Colbert served at the college’s Head Athletic Trainer since 2000.  She also established an active Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and continues to contribute to organizing the athletics awards banquet. 

Colbert is a graduate of the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly known NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement), which has allowed her to understand all facets of running a successful athletics program.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education/athletic training from Canisius College.  She went on to receive a Master of Education in health education from SUNY Cortland.

In her spare time, Colbert enjoys hiking, running and skiing.  She resides in Utica with her family.
